Looking for your next literary fix? While we admit we don't quite have the search system of AO3 or FFN, we do have tools to make finding that fix a little easier. This is our indexing system, consisting of the Catalogue, Labels, and Tags.
Labels
Labels are a natural part of the Proboards environment. Technically, they're more like filters, but their chief use on our forum is to create a colorful little tag that makes what you're looking for immediately visible.
We currently have two available labels for fics on the forum: In Progress and Complete. Adding them to your own fic is easy. In the thread creation/editing screen, next to the Subject line, you'll find these buttons. Take note of the one that's highlighted:
Click on this button, and a menu will appear. Hover over the first option (Labels), and you'll see this:
Simply click the option that applies to your fic, and you're done!
On the forums, it's also possible to filter by either of these tags. Simply click on the label itself, and you'll be taken to a version of the index with only in progress or complete fics viewable.
Tags
Tags are essentially thread title prefixes, added by the user as they type out their title. It's highly recommended that you add prefixes in order to better describe what the reader can expect. (They're also handy because labels aren't viewable on mobile.) Some particularly handy tags are as follows:
[DISC] for discussion threads. This one is the only one that's really mandatory, as it separates an entire class of thread from the rest. Discussion threads that lack this prefix will have it added by a mod.
[CYOA] for choose-your-own-adventure fics.
[OS] or [ONE-SHOT] for one-shots.
[ANTH] for one-shot collections or anthologies.
Note: Chaptered fics are not required to have tags.
