You Better Werk
Workshops. Discord. Forums. What's happening?
For those of you who have been around for a while, you will know that Workshops are live events held on our Discord where members can submit their works in-progress for others to read and review on the spot. The purpose of this was to allow members to get feedback on whatever it is they are working on so that they can get advice, critiques, and suggestions on whatever it is they submit - be it a scene, dialogue between two characters, current art piece, or a random few pages of an upcoming chapter. Overall, the workshops went over well. The problem was that from a mod perspective, they can be difficult and time-consuming to run. Thus, we're shaking things up a little bit.
All I Do Is Work, Work, Work, Work, Work
Introducing: our brand new Workshop forum! With this, we are introducing a new format to the Workshops.
From this point on (unless our trial run of this format goes poorly), Workshops will be split into two. The first part is held on the Discord and largely remains the same - a live discussion of works submitted for the current month. The difference here is that only four works will be discussed on the Discord. Each one will be given the full hour, as usual, with two works being discussed on one night and the other two on a different day of the week. The caveat here is that if you are given one of these Discord spots one month, the next month you will not be eligible for a Discord spot unless there is a lull in submissions and we have extra room.
Which leads me to part two of the Workshops: the forum. For everyone else who submitted a work but was not chosen for a Discord spot, their works will be posted here by a lovelybot librarian. For the entire month, members can take their time to read and leave feedback right here on the forum. Owners of the works can respond when they can and it will be the same concept as the Discord portion, only not live and will last until the next month's Workshop begins. The four Discord works will also be posted to receive any additional comments that were not given during the live portion.
Priority for the Discord spots will be given to members who have not participated in the Workshop previously and/or who are newer to the community.
Workin' 9 to 5
Submissions for the October Workshop will begin in the coming days. Be on the lookout for an announcement on the Discord!
