Monochrome SmilesSummary:What is the relationship between people and Pokemon? Is one just using the other or are we truly working together to create a better world.Rating and Expectation:This is PG-13 plus for mild language, implications of bodily harm to youth, and canon violence found in the video games. Plenty of OCs galoreTable of Contents:
Chapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Notes:This fic was written in the early days of my college and it was from that point where I was actually starting to form an esteem around my writing enough to post it. It was around that time that Nuzlocke comics were being popular and I wanted to indulge in telling a story with an OC all over again though this time (and hopefully) more well written just like the comics I took inspiration from......but I still wasn't really behind on the whole permadeath thing. I understand the whys and the mindset behind it but I just couldn't get behind it especially the stretches made to cause those deaths to happen and some of the ones I weren't fond of didn't handle it with grace. So I decided to stick my finger into the 'adaptation/novelization' pie. It isn't entirely creative but I feel like giving out my own spin on canon material and made a timeline I've grown, admittedly, too fond off. Thus I chose the latest game out at the time and the one that touched my heart, Black and White. The version you're getting here is going to be a slight updated version in comparison to my wordpress as I wanted to lessen some of the language some of the character's used, correct spelling, and make certain things more clear to the audience. I have the link to my word press if you are curious enough about the story to see the rest of it but I will still post the slightly tweeked versions here all the same.Commenting/Critique
I would like comments and feedback! I am not looking for something too in-depth or critical at the moment at this time though.

Monochrome Smiles Chapter 1
“It’s been two months, how is she not improving? We even got her that Panpour as a therapy Pokémon…”
“I don’t know…”
“And she refused further surgery and plans to go out on a journey…it doesn’t make sense.”
“Well…at least she won’t be alone. Let’s just hope for the best.”
…
“I’m afraid your son’s condition won’t improve for quite some time…but at the very least, as long as this Munna is close to him, he’ll get better.”
“Thank you…”
“What about this Munna’s trainer?”
“…he said nothing, he just left the pokeball at our desk and left.”
“…I see.”
…
The large dark green coat was buttoned up. The girl looked at her hooded head in the mirror and nodded, satisfied with how much the hood obscured, though her still mouth did not show it. She picked up the belt that had three Pokeballs attached to it and clipped it around her long gray pants. Her preparations are interrupted as she heard a faint call from down the hall.
“Nori?! Can you get Hiroki?!”
A yawn could be heard in a grass field not far from a simple town. A boy with shoulder length black hair simply lay back on the field with what appeared to be a pink tapir with floral patterns on its side lying next to him. The boy was wearing a dark blue collared t-shirt and long black pants. He has a belt that held a bag and pokeballs. The Munna crawled over and went on top of the boys head. He slowly got up and opened drowse blue eyes.
“Mu…” the boy yawned. “Good morning.” He slowly got up. The boy looked at a watch that appeared to have a screen with a set of buttons on the right side and below the screen. He pushed a button to check the time. “Early afternoon…my nap wasn’t long enough.”
“Hiroki!” Hiroki turned to someone covered in a large green coat. The voice sounded like it a girl. “There you are; your mother is looking for you!”
“Ok Nori, I’ll go with you soon.” Hiroki absent mindly said as he slowly started to follow the coated girl. “By the way do you ever take that coat off? You kinda look like a shop lifter?” The girl shuddered at the comment but continued to speak as if everything was normal.
“The sun’s just bright and my skin’s sensitive to light.”
“Very well, if you say so.” Hiroki kept walking with Nori. The two eventually found a simple house with a small table and a set of chairs outside with a large umbrella shading that set of furniture. Hiroki and Nori sat down; a woman with long black hair came out.
“Here’s lunch, just sandwiches, I hope you two enjoy!” The woman gladly left Hiroki and Nori. Hiroki sighed as his mother displayed behavior as if he brought a date over for the first time. He took a bite.
“So…” Hiroki took another bite. “When are you going to get back to Striaton City? You’ve been staying over at my place for like…four days.” Hiroki took another bite as the girl started to think.
“Well…I’m in no hurry, besides I can take myself there after all. I got my starter after all.” She presented a pokeball. “But…it just seems strange that I go on my own and I’m not even close to this one, so human company will be nice.” Hiroaki sighed and then went to take the pokeball. He looked inside to see a red pig like pokemon, a Tepig.
“Just say you want me to go with you.” Hiroki sighed and stood up. “Do you want to go around now?” Hiroki looked at the coated girl and she lightly nodded. As she stood up, Hiroki noticed a rather messy black haired boy. He wore a large dark blue jacket but unlike Nori, he did not have his hood up, showing his black eyes. He also wore long white pants and appears to be talking to someone, a person in a lab coat. The boy received a pokeball; Hiroki simply stared and then shrugged. “Alotta people must be starting their journeys today I guess.” Hiroki can’t help but to think he has seen that messy haired boy before.
Hiroki and Nori continued to walk together. It wasn’t at all an eventful walk at all. The two eventually made it to a much bigger town than the one they were in, after all Route 1, the path in-between, was short.
“Ok that’s one town. Just one more and you’re home.” Hiroki looked at the sky. It was late afternoon. He sighed. “We shouldn’t have left at lunch time.” Hiroki and Nori simply walked over to a Pokémon center, a very convenient building that has medical, shopping, and inn services. However before he could he noticed a large group that is gathered. They were dressed in gray and white medieval themed hooded uniforms. On their chest appeared to be a crest that presented a shield with a strange looking P on it. Before the group of people was a man dressed in a highly decorative robe and wearing a strange red monocle. He had very long and messy blond hair. The man was clearly the leader.
“My name is Ghetsis.” The man began his speech. “I am here representing Team Plasma.” Hiroki wanted to leave but Nori seemed interested in the speech. Hiroki looked up at the Munna resting on his head on sighed. “Today I am here to talk to talk about Pokémon Liberation.” The crowd let out a bunch of noises of confusion. “I am sure most of you believe that humans and Pokémon are partners that have come to live each other because we want and need each other.” Hiroki rolled his eyes at the statement. “However…is that really the truth? Have you ever considered that perhaps we humans…only assume that is the truth?” The boy’s eyes narrowed. “Pokemon are subjected to the selfish command of trainers…they get pushed around when they are ‘partners’ for our work?” Ghetsis wandered back and forth in his speech. Hiroki assumed his is doing it for dramatic effect. “Can anyone say with confidence that there is no truth to what I am saying?” Hiroki placed a hand on the side of Mu. He has heard of selfish trainers and this wouldn’t come as a surprise is that this Ghetsis guy is overreacting. An extremist maybe? Why was he allowed to take up precious town space for his little overreaction?
“Huh?” “What?” Nori grew nervous as she heard the various confused sounds and pondering from the rest of the audience. “No way.” “I don’t know…” Hiroki only grew more agitated at the consideration the speech was getting.
“Now, ladies and gentlemen, Pokémon are different from humans. They are living beings that contain unknown potential. They are living beings from whom we humans have much to learn.” That much was at least the truth in Hiroki’s mind. “Tell me, what is our responsibility toward these wonderful creatures we call Pokémon?” Ghetsis finally walks to the center of his little speech area. “That’s right! We must liberate them! Then, and only then, will humans and Pokémon truly be equals!” Hiroki yawned. This speech was taking far too long. “Everyone, I end my words here today…” Thank you, thought Hiroki. “…by imploring you to consider the relationship between people and Pokémon…and the correct way to proceed.” Nori looked down. “We sincerely appreciate your attention.” Much to Hiroki’s relief the group started to carry the flags and went off toward the town exit with the speech maker.
“Finally, that is over…that was a load of Boufflant shi…Nori, why are you staring at your pokeballs?” Nori was simply staring at her pokeballs after the speech. Hiroki sighed in annoyance. “Don’t tell me you buy that crap. Listen, they’re just overreacting to what some other idiot done to their Pokémon alright? Just because they say the relationship between human and Pokémon is at question doesn’t mean the relationship between you and your Pokémon is at question.”
“But-…” Hiroki sighed in annoyance and turned around to see a tall boy, inches away from his face, with long green hair and gray eyes staring at him. Hiroki’s eyes widened. The other boy had a black cap, white shirt with a black shirt layer of clothing underneath, and long brown pants held up by a belt. That’s where the normality of his outfit ends. He had a black metal wrist band on his left arm and a set of gold square like bracelets on his right. His necklace had a sphere with an odd pattern and his belt held up a strange looking yellow cube.
“Your pokemon…” both Nori and Hiroki looked at him. Mu the Munna simply stared at the boy. “…just now, it was saying…” Hiroki looked up at Mu.
“Um…you alright? Mu can talk but in a human language?”
“Yes, they’re talking. Oh. Then, you two can’t hear it ether…how sad.” Hiroki had an odd feeling about this boy. He was strange to say the least. “My name is N.” Hiroki is seriously questioning who names their kid after a letter at that moment. Nori seemed a little nervous, but Hiroki spoke after turning a bit to see Nori shaking a little.
“I’m Hiroki, this is my friend Nori, and the Munna on my head is named Mu.” N stared at Hiroki and then began to walk around him, something that unnerved Hiroki.
“If I’m correct…Mu could possibly mean Nothingness correct? Is that what you consider your Munna?” Hiroki can’t help but to hiss at the statement. N simply stared into the boy’s eyes. “Well, Hiroki was it? Let me hear your Pokémon’s voice again!”
“What are you talking ab…” Hiroki and Mu were then sent flying, much to Nori’s shock. As Hiroki and Mu crashed on to the ground, a dark purple cat like Pokémon landed before N. Hiroki slowly got up to look at the cat. He quickly took out a cellphone like device. He pushed the side buttons and then another screen popped out on top of the one already present.
“Purrlion, dark type, wonderful.” Hiroki looked at Mu. Mu was considered a psychic type and psychic attacks cannot even touch dark types. “The only voices you are going to hear tonight, is the voice of my irritation.” Hiroki closed the device but N seems fixated on it for a moment. A pokedex…thought N. Many of my friends were captured for the sake of that device, concluded N’s thoughts. Hiroki took out a pokeball. He quickly sends out the Pokémon out, revealing it to small pigeon, Pidove. “Feather, Air Cutter!” Feather flapped her wings to create blades of wind that slightly cut up the street as it head towards Purrlion and N. The two simply dodged it with no effort.
“Another Sucker Punch.” The cat swiftly sped up to the bird, despite how high the bird is flying and then punched the bird into the ground. Hiroki’s eyes widened as he did. He simply stared at what happened before him. “I take it you recently caught that pokemon? It’s not going to do you much good, sending a pokemon barely trained at me.”
“I don’t need you to tell me that.” Hiroki hissed as he returned the Pidove into the pokeball. “Mu!” The Munna slowly floated in front of Hiroki but right away Nori got in the way. Hiroki arched an eyebrow as Nori stood up in front of Mu and Hiroki. N and his Purrlion stared at her.
“This fight is over, you win N, please leave.” Nori held out her arms to guard Hiroki and Mu. Hiroki slowly got up. Nori turned around. “Please, don’t try to fight with Mu. You know what will happen.” Hiroki looked at her and then sighed. N stared before he turned around.
“Purrlion we’re going.” The purple cat nodded and followed N. Hiroki hissed as he left. “I hope to hear your Pokémon’s voices again someday.” Nori took a deep sigh of relief as she finally stopped shaking.
Inside the nearby Pokémon center, Hiroki and Nori sat down at a table with a few seats after their Pokémon was done healing. Hiroki looked a little grumpy that he lost but none the less he was still fine. Nori adjusted her coat hood and then stood up.
“Hiroki, I’m going to go for a walk for a while.” Nori bowed politely and then left the Pokémon center. Hiroki yawned and Mu fell asleep on his head.
Nori walked around town. It was rather peaceful at night town. She continued to walk till she shuddered at a sight. It was N. He seemed to be talking to his Purrlion. Nori hastily looked around for a hiding spot and then hid behind a light pole.
“Go along now; I’ll see you again sometime.” N petted the cat and then waved good bye. “You don’t belong in a pokeball.” The Purrlion seemed reluctant to leave but none the less left. N then turned around and started to walk toward Nori’s direction. Nori started to shiver uncontrollably from her hiding place. As N was near her location, he stopped, and glanced at where Nori was standing. She started to shiver more and more. N simply then continued on his way toward the town exit. After N was long gone, Nori slumped on to the ground.
“That…was chilling. But…” Nori slowly got up. “He might not be that bad a person…” Nori then slapped her cheeks. “Oh what am I thinking?! He attacked Hiroki.” She then made haste back toward the Pokémon center for the night.

Monochrome Smiles Chapter 2
Nori awoke from her sleep and then adjusted her coat hood to better cover her face. She opened the door of the room where she was staying and noticed Hiroki already waiting outside, Mu the Munna rested on his head as always. She cleared her throat and went down stairs with Hiroki to get some breakfast, and then they left the Pokémon center. Hiroki however took out a pokeball and opened it up; releasing the Pidove he had earlier.
“Feather, get this letter over to mother.” The Pidove flew off as Hiroki tied a letter to the bird’s leg, let the pigeon grab on to the pokeball with her free leg, and then let the pigeon fly off. Hiroki let out a large yawn before walking off. Nori sounded worried before speaking.
“Wait, isn’t Feather your only other Pokémon? That leaves you with just Mu and you couldn’t…” Nori flinched when she noticed a look of agitation from Hiroki’s face. “Eh…never mind, let’s just continue on.” Hiroki sighed and then took out an empty pokeball.
Route 2 was just another short and scenic route that Hiroki and Nori passed through. Hiroki looked at the town entrance to Striaton City. He stared at it and then looked over at Nori.
“Hey, Nori, I’m going to drop you off here, see you again at some point.” Hiroki began to turn around, Nori let out a sound as if trying to speak. Hiroki turned around to look at Nori. She seemed like she wanted to say something but in the end decided not to say anything. Hiroki sighed and started to walk off. “I’ll rejoin you in a second, I just need a walk.”
Hiroki walked in the route, looked left and right and behind him to see if Nori was following him. He sighed as he then took out an empty pokeball. He waited for a few small moments and noticed a patch of grass rustle.
“You really are the type to hold a grudge eh?” Hiroki looked over at the grass patch and out came the Purrlion that N had earlier. “He released you?” Hiroki was confused as to why N released the Pokémon but did he care at the moment. He was just trying his best not to misplace his anger upon the cat rather than his former trainer. “What a guy huh?” The Purrlion charged though this time Hiroki expected a strike and managed to get himself and Mu away from a punch from the dark purple cat.
“Yawn, Mu.” The pink tapir like Pokémon let out a yawn, as he yawned; a small puff of silver smoke came out and engulfed the Purrlion for a moment. The purrlion started to rub his eyes and yawn. It was getting sleepy. “Perfect…” Hiroki threw the pokeball and it hit the cat square in the head as it went to sleep. The ball opened up and sucked in the cat. Hiroki watched the ball shake once…twice…trice…click. He picked up the pokeball and looked at the sleeping cat inside. “Hmm…a good name…”
Nori opened the door to what appeared to be an studio apartment. She slowly went over to the couch and then sat down. She stared out the window and then took out three pokballs. She opened them to reveal her current party. A Tepig, Petilil, and a Panpour.
“Iggy, Petal, Pour.” Nori said the three pokemon’s names respectively as she released them and then pets all of them. “Iggy, you’ll be with me for a long while so I thought you’d like to get to know me, Petal, and Pour a little.” The little red fire piglet let out a small greeting growl to the water monkey and the leaf creature that seems to resemble a dress a little. Nori watched the group of them play as she then heard a knock on the door. She quickly looked through the peak hole on the door to see Hiroki covered in scratches and bruises. She flinched and flung open the door. “How did a ‘walk’ end up with those scratches?” Hiroki sighed and showed Nori the pokeball containing the Purrlion.
“Leo, this Purrlion, was the Purrlion that beat me back in Accumula town. This was once N’s pokemon.” Hiroki placed the pokeball back into his pocket. “It still doesn’t trust me even after about the half dozen battles I’ve been in with this guy.” Hiroki went over to sit down in one of the chairs in the living room of Nori’s home. Hiroki looked around and then placed the pokeball with Leo on the table. “This guy still apparently hates me.” Hiroki then lay back on the seat. “I might as well release him but…” Nori and Hiroki’s eyes wandered to the now sleepy Purrlion as it decided to fall asleep in the pokeball. “I’d feel bad giving him the feeling of being released twice.”
“So…you just are going to bring the Purrlion around?”
“It was following us around, might as well bring it with me.” Nori titled her head in confusion as she didn’t notice. “Anyways, where are your parents?” Nori shuddered and tried to think of the best words. Hiroki could tell that something was off.
“They’re um…busy so I don’t see them around home often.” Hiroki sighed as he got up. Nori was clearly worried even if you couldn’t see her eyes and face very well due to her large coat hood.
“I see then.” Hiroki stood up from the sofa. “I guess I’ll be off to home now that I escorted you home.” He stretched himself, picked up Leo’s pokeball from the table and started to head for the door. “If you need me don’t hesitate to call me alright?” Hiroki left the apartment. Nori looked at her Pokémon and then returned them into their pokeballs. She then took out a little booklet and read through as Hiroki left the apartment.
Nori adjusted her coat hood as she stood in front of a rather big looking restaurant. She looked left and right. It appeared to be night time. She then read the front of the restaurant, Striaton City gym. She looked and at the sign then looked below to see the menu. She quickly shook her head.
“T-That’s not what I’m here for.”
“There has GOT to be a better way to increase yourself self-esteem other than obtaining a shiny carved rock.” Nori shrieked as she turned around to see Hiroki standing right behind her. He sighed. “You really want to challenge the gyms? I really don’t see a reason why you would want to do so.” Nori turned fully around to Hiroki.
“W-well, I just wanted to give it a try. Plus anyone with a badge is considered strong right? Then again you don’t have any badges.” Hiroki simply looked away and then sighed. “Why are you still here though?”
“I was hoping to eat dinner, too much trouble to go home. Plus…” Hiroki pointed to Mu still on his head. “The guy feels more comfortable here. The dreamyard, where most Muuna are born is actually spitting distance from this city. Mu is reluctant to leave. He wants to stay here for a while.” Hiroki simply opened the door. “Come on in Nori, I’m not challenging for you. I’m here to eat dinner.” Nori quickly nodded, still a little surprised by Hiroki’s stay and went inside the restaurant and gym.
Inside the gym was a simple restaurant though divided into three sections, Hiroki simply sat at a table in the section nearest the entrance. He looked through the menu. One might notice that in the last section of the restaurant is a large stage, most likely an arena of sorts. Nori meekly started to walk up towards the arena. Hiroki ordered some food for himself and Mu.
Nori went up to the third section. Hiroki adjusted his seat so he could see even from where he is. She walked up to the arena and looked right and left. She adjusted her coat hood. She waited for a moment and then a boy with green hair in a waiter’s uniform walked up to her.
“I presume you are here to challenge us ma’am?” Nori slowly nodded. The waiter bowed politely and suddenly appearing from behind him were a waiter with messy red hair and a waiter with oddly combed blue hair. This caused Nori to flinch.
“This gym goes by a unique rule so to speak.” Said the red haired waiter. “If we may ask, what type is your starting pokemon?”
“Grass type.” Nori stated. She looked at her Petilil’s pokeball. It really was her first Pokémon. It was a common Pokémon but she none the less treasured this particular leaf Pokémon.
“Then I shall be your opponent, Chili! The other two are Cilan and Cress.” The theme naming made Hiroki want to slam his face on the plate but the food is so good he can’t bring himself to. “Go Pansear!” Chili threw a pokeball to send out a rather unusual looking red monkey. Hiroki can’t help but to facepalm as he noticed the gym leader and the Pansear have the exact same hair style. Nori seemed off put by this as well but unlike Hiroki, she was polite enough to hide it…or at least do her best to. “Here are the rules, you’re allowed to use as many pokemon as you can but you have to knock out my Pansear before the match is over.” Nori nodded and quickly readied a pokeball.
“Pour!” Noir’s Panpour came out. Chili started to twitch where as Cilian and Cress then started to laugh. Hiroki could guess this type of thing was common practice for challengers of this gym. Even Hiroki was chuckling a little.
“Um…time out for a moment, did you get that Panpour from a crazy guy standing outside the warehouse in the dream yard?” Nori and Pour titled their heads in confusion. Chili sighed. “Never mind, just forget what we said and start the battle.” Nori felt at ease. Obviously water has superiority fire. “Sunny Day!” The fire monkey created a small fire ball and launched it into the sky to make a mini sun. “Then Solarbeam!!” Ok…maybe things aren’t going to be easy. The beam of sunlight just barely missed Pour and Nori as the solar beam went out the door. Thankfully not hitting anyone but safety measures has been put around gyms as of late. Nori started to shiver. She did not expect this at all. Hiroki simply watched from his table.
“P-Pour! Use water gun!” The blue monkey fired a stream of water over at Pansear. The red monkey dodged and then fired another solarbeam. This time it was a direct hit. Nori’s eyes widened as Pour went down. Hiroki stopped eating his meal and then watched intently. “Pour, return, you did what you could.” Nori called back the blue monkey into the pokeball. She looked over at Pansear. She readied her next pokeball. She then threw a pokeball and out came the fire pig she got earlier yesterday. “Iggy!” Hiroki stared and then the same device he used to identify N’s Purrlion.
“Seems like I finally have more use for this.” Hiroki stated as he looked over at the small red pig. Fire pig vs fire monkey. Hiroki wasn’t really sure how this was going to end actually. Her only edge was just casually pushed out of the way because of some crazy guy giving out elemental monkies at the entrance of the dream yard. Hiroki pressed two side buttons and a screen popped out from the top of the device. Soon information displayed on the screen.
Tepig Type: Fire Classification: Fire Pig Pokémon Ability: Blaze Height: 1’08’’ Weight: 21.8 lbs. Info: It can deftly dodge its foe’s attacks while shooting fireballs from its nose. When it catches a cold, the fire becomes pitch black smoke instead.
Pansear Type: Fire Classification: High Temp Pokémon Ability: Gluttony Height: 2’00’’ Weight: 24.3 lbs Info: When it is angered, the temperature of its head tuft reaches 600 degrees Fahrenheit. It also uses this tuft to roast berries.
Hiroki sighed as he closed it. It only provided useless information to him. Besides, it wasn’t like he could just yell advice to Nori. She was going to have to figure this out on her own. He lay back on the chair after finishing his food and watched the match.
“Iggy use smog!” The little pig sneezed and black smog began to cover Chili’s side of the battle field. The Pansear began to cough severely. Hiroki smiled. The fire monkey was poisoned and thus weakened. Hiroki went back to sipping his water.
“Pansear, Acrobatics!!” Despite the insane amount of coughing that the Pansear was doing, he flipped through the air and did some sort of odd gymnastic kick on Iggy sending him flying. Hiroki looked back at the battle, Nori rather shocked at the amount of power the move had.
“Acrobatics, a physical attack which doubles in power if the opponent isn’t holding an item. I was careless; I should’ve given Nori an item or something.” Hiroki was worried again. He underestimated this group of silly haired waiters. Nori was shivering a little but none the less regained her compose. She was just caught a little off guard.
“Iggy! Use another smog! Try to cover up the field!” The little pig started to blow more smoke from his nose but the fire monkey then leaped into the air. It was another Acrobatics attack. However, Hiroki strangely smirked. Thankfully no one saw him but it was rather odd for him to do so.
Right when the fire monkey was about to land an acrobatic kick, it slammed face into the ground. Something which confused…just about everyone except for Hiroki, Nori took a step closer as well as Chili.
“It looks like you lost Chili.” Said Cress, trying to suppress a laugh, Chili can’t help but to get a little angry. Nori was glad but also confused. She then placed Iggy back within the pokeball. Hiroki got up form his seat, his Munna, Mu latched on to his head after eating.
“It’s simple. Remember the smog earlier? Surely you would’ve noticed your Pansear being poisoned. While smog is a relatively weak attack, it still does physical damage to your Pokémon. Add poisoning on top of that, it was going to be unconscious sooner or later.” Hiroki then looked over at the other two waiters. “Aren’t you going to give Nori her badge?” Nori flinched at her mentioned and then remembered what she came here for. Chili smiled despite the confusion and the defeat earlier.
“Since I was her opponent I’ll present the badge.” Chili presented Nori with a box and then opened it. Contained within is a rectangular golden badge with three different colored squares. “This is the Basic Badge.” Nori held the badge in her hand. A smile was across her face. Hiroki yawned.
“Well now that this crap is done, let’s head back to the Pokémon center, if you really want all of them the next one is Nacrene City which who knows how long it’ll take to get there on foot.” Hiroki left with Nori then bowing in politeness toward the three gym leaders and then following him out the door. The green haired waiter, Cilan, had a confused look on his face as he watched Hiroki exit the door.
“Anything wrong?” Chili asked as he turned around to see Cilan’s face.
“…did you guys notice that Munna on that boy’s head was using Telekinesis this entire time?”
“You’re saying he helped that girl win?!”
“No, no, you guys, that Munna was using Telekinesis on that boy.” The two waiters stared at Cilan in confusion. He then shrugged. “I’m pretty sure there must be a reason but we can’t dwell on it now, we gotta clean the place up.”
It was rather early next morning. Nori yawned as she noticed Hiroki already wide awake. He opened the door and looked over at Nori. She quickly placed the blanket over her head as to cover up her head as her jacket would.
“Before we leave this place, I want to visit the dream yard. Want to come along?” Nori gave a nod and quickly threw on her jacket, as usual putting the hood up so that it covers most of her head.
Hiroki went out of the Pokémon center only to be nearly hit by a running lady. She was a bit taller than Hiroki, wearing what appeared to be a red long sleeve Chinese-style dress with a purple sash. She had her long black hair tied in a bun. Hiroki arched an eyebrow.
“I’m sorry I’m in a hurry right now!” The girl yelled as she went off to the forest path toward the dream yard. Hiroki sighed and Nori wondered what happened as the two also headed there.
Hiroki and Nori went toward what appeared to be a torn apart building, with large grass and vines everywhere. Not to mention the rubble and junk lying around. Nori seemed a little uneased where as Hiroki and Mu really doesn’t seem to consider it a big deal. However they heard a cry. Mu responded to it. Hiroki smiled.
“Let’s go say hello to a friend.” Hiroki kicked aside a steel barrel that served to block a large crack entrance. “Let’s go inside.” Hiroki walked with Nori following. They saw another Munna, peacefully walking along. Nori noticed Hiroki smiling. It wasn’t huge but it was small and peaceful. However…Hiroki’s smile went away as he looked away from the Munna for a second to see two Team Plasma members. Gender didn’t matter to ether Hiroki and Nori.
“We found you Munna…oh wait there is even two!”
“Come on! Come on! Make some dream mist!” Hiroki looked immensely angered as he saw the two members gang up on the small pink tapir, the Munna not on Hiroki’s head looking reasonably terrified and Mu’s expression started to match his trainer’s.
“You two are from that stupid speech group! Team Plaz…something.” Hiroki couldn’t even be bothered to remember what their names were at the moment.
“Excuse us! We’re Team Plasma!! We fight day and night to liberate pokemon from foolish humans.” Hiroki and Mu clearly had a ‘do you guys ever look at a mirror’ look on their faces.
“As you should know, Munna and Musharna emit a vapor known as Dream Mist! It gives us the power to show peoples dreams and through it we’ll manipulate people’s dreams into releasing their Pokémon! We’ll manipulate their hearts through their dreams!!” Hiroki looked angrier than before something that scared
Nori a little but she now focused back on them as one of the Team Plasma members kicked the Munna.
“Come on give us that dream mist!!”
“You’re kicking it to force that dream mist?!” Nori was appalled more than angry. They said they wanted to protect Pokémon. They were to foolish humans. Of course Hiroki and Mu already came to this conclusion. “Besides, aren’t you trainers too!?”
“We’re Pokémon trainers too, but we’re fighting for a different reason.” The other Team Plasma member not kicking the Munna decided to expose. “Unlike you two, we battle for the freedom of Pokémon!!”
“And setting Pokémon free means we win Pokémon battles and take Pokemon by force! Speaking of which, you also have a Munna right? Time to fork it over!” However Hiroki was silent. Suddenly random junk and rubble started to lift around him.
“In other words…” Hiroki began in a cold hearted voice. “You guys are just a group of hypocrites, spewing off shit to make you guys look better than the pieces of crap you guys are now…” However something grabbed Hiroki’s shoulder.
“Now now, they’re morons but even they don’t deserve that.” Hiroki glared to see the one touching his shoulder was the girl that nearly ran into him earlier. “Now, punishment, they won’t exactly get off…” The girl then suddenly took out what can only be described as metal fan and started beating the two Team Plasma members with it. The Munna that was being kicked then started to escape.
“Oi oi! Stop that freakin hu…” A very loud slam from flat metal to uniform was echoed. “….THE PAIN!!” Hiroki and Nori can’t help but to be a little horrified as the two were being beaten around by a metal sheeted fan. The Team Plasma members managed to crawl some distance from themselves. “Seesh, you allowed that Munna to get away, oh well that kid’s Munna was going to have to do! Patrat duo!” The Team Plasma members sent out…little brown rat like pokemon with red eyes however the black haired girl smirked.
“You think that two little rats are going to stop me?” Now Hiroki and Nori are at first terrified at the thought of the girl beating up the rats however the girl took out a pokeball. “Banafushigi! Vine Whip!!” She threw the pokeball releasing a blue four legged dinosaur with a huge flower on his back. Soon a vine came out from the base of the flower to whack away the rats instantly knocking them out. The Team Plasma members were terrified out of their minds. They quickly called back their Patrats.
“This is plasbad!!” They declared as they scrambled out a nearby crack on the wall. The fan wielding girl sighed as she pet the Venasaur. She turned to Hiroki and Nori. “Sorry we had to meet under such…circumstances. I’m Meili, it’s a pleasure to meet you, sorry about this morning as well.” Hiroki and Nori were still a touch frightened but they both nodded slightly.
“N-nice to meet you too.” They said in unison.

Unova fic! I think it's safe to say we like Unova fic here; V is a very interesting generation, thematically speaking, even if it is in many ways also a very flawed one, and lots of us seem to be investigating that in one way or another – there's a whole crop of neat fics here that have taken their inspiration from that. It's good to see another, especially one that looks like it's going to focus quite sharply on Plasma and its mission. Given that that little segment at the beginning (from the future, perhaps?) suggests that this could end up in very interesting territory indeed.
Something else that's interesting: Hiroki and Nori. I can't quite get a read on what they are to each other just yet; Hiroki seems kind of supportive, in that he's offering assistance without seeming to get anything in return, but he offers it very grudgingly, and it's difficult to be sure how Nori herself feels about her journey at all. Their pasts and reasons for travelling are at this point completely opaque – although it's clear one isn't at all susceptible to Ghetsis' brand of plausible rhetoric and one is, which should make for an interesting future – and it's all rather fascinating. I'm definitely curious to see how that develops – and how you develop them – as the story progresses.
There's more to discuss, I think, in terms of what the story's doing and how well it does it, but given that it's fairly pointless to offer in-depth critique on old writing (and that as such you've asked not to receive it) I'll stick to pointing out a few typos I noticed as I read through:
That should be “even”, rather than “event”.
You're missing the space between “A” and “lotta” there.
You only need one instance of “at all” there.
You go into the present tense here, for some reason.
I feel like a word or two got missed out here between “night” and “town” – “in this”, maybe?
You've got “trice” for “thrice” here.
You've got “peak” for “peek” here.
That should be “have” rather than “had”.
The plural of “monkey” is “monkeys”, rather than “monkies”.
“Nonetheless” is one word, and I think you mean “composure” rather than “compose”.
I think there's a word missing here between “her” and “mention” – “being”, maybe?
You've put a paragraph break in the middle of this line.
Not sure about this – “to foolish humans” might be a typo for “foolish humans too”, perhaps?
This is another instance of you dipping abruptly into the present tense, and also there's an “a” missing between “as” and “metal”.
But yeah, I'll leave off any more substantive critique, given how old this is. This looks like a really interesting story! Definitely looking forward to figure out how you plan to treat the whole Plasma thing as it pans out – especially with the way that it looks like N is going to play a role here, and I'm always interested in other people's interpretations of him.

Comment Response!
Thank you for taking the time to read my material (I'll get to Heart and Soul comment responses on the completion of Chapter 10).
I'll say more come my comments in Heart and Soul but really, thank you for pointing out the errors and goof ups on my part. They won't be retroactively implemented right away but I thank you for going out of your way to spot them.

Monochrome Smiles Chapter 3
Nori and Hiroki looked at their apparent savior as said savior soon took out a pokeball and placed the Venasaur in it. She also somehow placed away the metal fan, begging the question from Hiroki as to how she hides it or get past modern day security with such a possession.
“I’m Hiroki, the Munna on my head is Mu, and this girl here is Nori.” Hiroki looked over at Meili, the angry expression he had towards Team Plasma earlier now gone. “So what brings you here?”
“I was asked to help find some dream smoke but due to…obvious circumstances…” Meili laughed as she hastily hid the metal fans. It still doesn't reduce the fear that Nori and Hiroki have. “…I can’t find the dream smoke unless…” Meili stared at Mu. Hiroki sighed.
“I take it that the dream smoke from Mu is payment.” Hiroki actually looked more annoyed than usual but he wasn't going to argue. Not after seeing what she did. “But I like to see your client; I don’t want to give this way to dream smoke addicts.”
Meili and the duo walked up to an apartment and went up to the second floor of this apartment building, only to come upon something that some would consider a little terrifying or at least unnerving. There is a large fluffy bed, surrounded by computer equipment and not far from the bed is a study chair and desk but the main focus of this room is the computer surrounded by computer and lab equipment. A tall woman with long purple hair with a pink flower hair clip and glasses dashed up to the three, startling them. She adjusted her glasses and large lab coat.
“So, so ,so, Meili, you found it?!” Meili laughed due to nervousness, Hiroki and Nori were terrified of this girl but in a different way. “Oh a Munna!!” The girl dashed in front of Hiroki, his personal space invaded. “I’m Fennel, nice to meet you!!”
“Stay away from me please.”
“Please provide a few samples of dream smoke in…here.” Suddenly Fennel took out a large tank, something which made Hiroki further unnerved.
“You sure she isn’t an addict?” Hiroki asked Meili. Meili slowly side stepped and laughed. Hiroki just sighed. He looked up at Mu. “Come on Mu, just a few samples.” Mu yawned and from his forehead poured a large amount of pink mist.” Hiroki stared at the slowly filling tank. Fennel looked disturbingly excited. “Are we done?” Hiroki asked in annoyance.
“Yes, yes!! This is enough!!” Fennel attached the tank to one of the bits of lab equipment near the bed. She then went up to the three, invading all their personal space. No one needed to see Nori’s expression to view how disturbed she was. “Ohhh thank you!!”
“Yeah yeah…” Meili then cleared her throat and tried to clear her mind of her personal space violation. “Anyways, I got what you wanted, have you seen him?”
“Oh, well Juniper said he picked up a Snivy.” Fennel said, trying to ponder. “However he then left.” Meili sighed. Nori was curious.
“U-um…who is ‘he’?” Nori asked. Meili glanced at Nori and Hiroki. “W-well, maybe I shouldn’t have asked.” Meili sighed again and went up to the two.
“A good friend of mine, I’m looking for him right now.” Meili stated no more as she then walked down stairs. Fennel was still getting excited over the tank of dream smoke that Hiroki just provided her.
“Wait…did we see a messy haired boy pick up a Snivy a few days ago, Hiroki?” Meili perked at Nori’s words. “Then again it is useless seeing as how we don’t know where he could've gone.” Meili suddenly got saddened. “B-but don’t worry, what if we help you! You helped us after all right?” Hiroki stared and then sighed.
“I might as well help you too.” Hiroki yawned. “After all, who knows, that messy haired guy might be heading to where we’re heading.” Hiroki took out a map. “We should head through route three and all the way to Nacrene City.” Meili looked at the two and nodded.
“By the way, “Messy haired boy” is Zephyr, just so you know. He is usually seen with a Pikachu or a Delcatty.” Hiroki and Nori slowly nodded. Though Hiroki was not sure if he saw a yellow mouse with the boy but then again said yellow mouse could be in a pokeball. Nori in the meanwhile attempted to recall what a 'Delcatty' is. “Welp, let’s get going.” Meili opened the door and headed out with Hiroki and Nori.
“So…how far is the next city?” Nori asked. Hiroki took out a map while Meili peaked over Hiroki’s shoulder. She was slightly taller and she still had little idea about the region. “The next gym is in…Nacrene City, right?”
“Yup, fair walk away from here but we should make it by…late night if we leave now.” Hiroki then started to walk out of the apartment of the crazy professor who quickly dashed out. Hiroki, Meili, and Nori wondered what she wanted.
“Oh, Hiroki!! Do you have any method of ways to keep constant communication?!” Hiroki had a terrified look on his face upon realization of Fennel’s question. Meili laughed nervously. Right away Hiroki started to run. Fennel tilted her head, confused as to why Hiroki had a terrified reaction. “Call me!”
Hiroki took a deep breathe as he walked with Meili and Nori in the route toward Nacrene City. Nori went up to Hiroki to see if he is alright…though it was clear he wasn’t. He was still visually disturbed by Fennel’s…attitude.
“This is the last time I help people. How did you even get to meet a psychopath like her?!”
“Now now, she’s just heavily immersed in her research.” Meili stated as she walked a little ahead of Hiroki. “Some researchers devout a lot of time into their studies. True, it was creepy how forward she was, but I’m pretty sure her interested in the dream smoke is genuine.”
“She’s also pretty high on it if you ask me.” The trio began to walk until they noticed a small girl in an elementary school uniform and a hard hat. She was jumping up and down as two obviously older and taller Team Plasma members tried to keep a pokeball away from her.
“You’re obviously too young to understand but we of Team Plasma are here to…” One of the Team Plasma member’s eyes widened and the other that kept the pokeball away dropped out of shock when they saw Hiroki, Meili, and Nori. Meili recognized them. She cracked her fists.
“Seems like you didn’t learn the last time…” Meili let out a sadistic smile. Nori quickly grabbed the small girl’s pokeball, placed it in her hands, and covered her eyes and ears the best she could to avoid the small preschool girl from being traumatized.
The little girl’s eyes and ears were opened to see the two mean men gone and the presence of three kind people. Nori and Hiroki though look a little nervous despite their attempts at reassuring smiles.
“By the way, you are from the elementary school near here right?” Nori asked. The little girl nodded and then Nori started to lead the girl back to the nearby Preschool. Hiroki walked with Meili. Though talking so only the two could hear each other.
“Did you really have to punch those guys to the point where their blood was over your hands?”
“Oh come on they stopped.”
“But that’s because they’ll most likely live in fear of you for their entire lives!!” Hiroki sighed. He wonders why he has to hang around the crazy people. He started to catch up with Nori. At least she was tolerable.
The group guided the kid over to the local elementary school and they waved good bye to the staff. Hiroki then noticed something. There appeared to be a Pokemon day care next to it. Hiroki then looked over at Nori and Meili.
“It appears that unless we keep Meili here to instill terror, this place won’t be left alone.” Meili can’t help but to get a little mad at Hiroki’s comment. “This place…” Hiroki pointed to the day care building. “It must represent everything Team Plasma loathes…people and Pokémon in one place and building.” Hiroki sighed and then sat on the steps toward the building. “Why exactly do they have to choose now to start causing trouble?” Hiroki sighed and the Munna on his head yawned.
“Yeah, Team Plasma wasn’t really major until we started our journey. Weren't they just making speeches before?” Nori pondered as she sat next to Hiroki. Meili sat on the steps behind them and just stared at the sky for their short relaxing break. It was a nice breeze today. The relaxation was soon interrupted when a small ball of very light green fluff suddenly passed by them. Hiroki looked over at it and noticed…something stuck on it. The green fluff popped out tiny leaf arms and turned around. Nori clapped and then took out her Pokedex to see what it was.
Cottonee Type: Grass Classification: Cotton Puff Pokémon Ability: Prankster or Infiltrator Height: 1’00” Weight: 1.3 lbs Info: When attacked, they shoot cotton to serve as a distraction toward their enemies. During rainy days, it lives underneath trees due to the increased weight of his or her fur during those times.
“That little fluffy shit stole my wallet!” The Cottonee appeared to be laughing and started to scurry away however Hiroki quickly sent out Leo. In a blink of an eye, the cat managed to slam the Cottonee into the ground. Hiroki right away threw a pokeball at the little cotton ball. The fluff ball was contained after three shakes and a click. Hiroki picked up the pokeball. “I’m naming her Cotton.”
“Why catch something that just stole your wallet? Unless you plan on cruel payback later…”
“That’s you, Meili, not me. Besides, aside from Leo and Mu, I got no other Pokemon on my person.” Hiroki placed the pokeball away and returned Leo to his. He then sighed. “Let’s just…get to the next city; I think we suffered enough detours as it is.”
“About that.” Meili pointed to Leo, still with Hiroki’s wallet, as he made a dash away.
“Hey! Get back here!!”
…
They finally made it to Nacrene City. It is an old looking city, filled with numerous ware houses. Hiroki, Nori, and Meili looked at the late night sky; it looked like they’re staying in the pokemon center till morning. Hiroki yawned as he started to head there. Meili stretched. She was a little tired too. Nori however looked around town with a bit of wonder. Hiroki turned to her.
“If you want to look around town just say so. Just don’t stay up too late.” Nori smiled at Hiroki’s suggestion and nodded. She dashed off and noticed Meili looking at Hiroki. She seemed to be pondering something. “What?”
“Oh nothing. You just seem a lot nicer to Nori.” Meili went on inside. Hiroki shrugged as he entered in the Pokémon Center with her.
Nori walked around the night city. It wasn’t severely lit but there was enough light to get around. She noticed how all the houses seemed like ware houses and that they were old train tracks. She wandered around and stood in front of a café that this city was well known for according to the free travel guide she found. She walked over not far from it…to see the Museum. It also doubled as the gym according to the guide.
“So…I battle here tomorrow.”
“I…want to want to see things no one can see.” A voice caused Nori to become startled to the point where she dropped her travel guide and quickly jumped away. Her eyes widened when she realized not far behind her was N, the green haired boy from earlier. “Your name was Nori was it?” Nori nodded real slowly. “The truths of Pokémon inside Poké Balls. The ideals of how Trainers should be and a future where Pokémon have become perfect… Do you feel the same?” Nori looked at N and slowly started to step back.
“I-I’m not sure what you mean…” Nori said meekly. N simply stared at her and then readied a pokeball.
“Huh. I expected more from you. Now pay attention…” Nori blinked to notice the pokeball gone. “My friend and I will test you to see if you can see this future, too.” Nori narrowly managed to avoid getting hit by a small gray humanoid pokemon wielding a giant piece of timber. Her eyes widened in terror.
“W-why do we have to fight?!”
“I want to test you.” Nori found herself with little to no choice in the manner. She quickly took out her own pokeball and then sent out Iggy. “Timburr use Chip Away.” The Timburr then dashed in front of the red fire pig and smashed him in the face with the timber. Nori’s eyes was shocked however Iggy can still get up.
“Flame Charge!” Right away the pig started to be cloaked in an aura of fire as the small fire pig charged at the Timburr. The Timburr smirked as it threw the log into the air.
“Counter.” The Timburr, despite the fact that the Tepig was on fire, caught the pig and slammed it into the ground. Just in time for the Timburr to catch the timber it weidled. N smiled. “Did you know…that when Timburr are close to evolving, it can wield the timber it utilizes in battle effortlessly?” The Timburr then started to twitch in anticipation. “Now…look carefully Nori.” Nori started to shiver in terror when she realized that the Timburr started growing a little. Not just in size but in muscle. “At this Pokémon’s potential. Can you release yours?”
“W-what is that?!”
“Gurdurr, use strength!” The now more muscular Pokémon with a different ‘hair’ style and bright red noise, with out using the timber slammed into the pig. Iggy fell unconscious. “It is said that not even a group of professional wrestlers can push a Gurdurr.” N then looked over at Nori. “Do you still want to try?” Nori shivered however she gulped and readied another pokeball to throw.
“Pour! Use Sca…”
“Hammer Arm.” Right away the Gurdurr took the timber from his previous evolved form, leaped in the air to dodge the hot water shooting form the water monkey’s mouth as she was sent out and then slam the timber on her so hard that it broke and knocked out Pour as well. Nori reached for her next pokeball but felt too scared to even move. “Aren’t you going to continue? I want to keep testing you. You have one other Pokémon left.” Nori gulped and with great hesitation sent out her Petilil. “Poison Jab.” The muscular Pokémon began to charge with a fist cloaked in a purple aura.
“Magical Leaf!” The leaf like Pokémon began to shake around summoning from her body rainbow colored leaves that suddenly began to fire towards the Gurdurr, not one of them missed. This managed to push him back a little. “Stun Spore!” The Petilil started to shake again, this time releasing a yellowish powder toward the Gurdurr. He started to feel numb all over. “T-there! We have no more reason to fight, your Pokémon can barely move.” Nori seemed to be in relief, however then to Nori’s surprise the Gurdurr rammed himself into Petal, an instant knock out. She shivered in complete terror and confusion.
“Façade, a movie that doubles in power when a Pokémon is poisoned, burned, or paralyzed. You should’ve kept attacking.” Nori called back her Petilil. Suddenly N began to walk toward her. Nori’s shivers worsened; she started to walk back only to have her back meet the wall of a ware house. “Right now, my friends aren’t strong enough to save all Pokémon. Maybe I can’t solve the equation that will change the world. So I need power…Power enough to make anyone agree with me.” Suddenly Nori and N heard a loud barking. N turned to the direction of the museum. “Now I know what power I need. The legendary Pokémon that, along with the hero, created the Unova region. It’s my turn to become that hero—and you and I will be friends.” N gave Nori a smile; however the girl was more worried than assured. “By the way…” Nori flinched.
“Y-yes?”
“I don’t know why you desire to keep your hood up, but I like to inform you that it got blown off from that hammer arm from earlier.” Nori gasped and quickly pulled her hood over her head. Her shivers intensified.
“P-please!! Don’t tell anyone what you saw!!” Before N could answer though a Herdier leapt in front of Nori. N started at the dog like Pokémon and then turned around to leave. A tall dark skinned woman with a blue afro came out of the musem. She had a red and orange headband and wore a white t-shirt and long blue pants.
“Are you alright? I heard a commotion outside.” The woman could hear crying from Nori. The woman bent down and reached but right away Nori grabbed the edges of her hood to keep it from falling. She stood up and then bowed.
“I-I-I thank you!” Nori said sluggishly as she ran off. She continued to run, but not to the Pokémon center. She huddled herself underneath a tree and then started to cry more, both of her hands secured her hood.
Nori continued on by herself until she heard movement in the bushes. She slowly stood up and reached for her pokeballs but then remembered that all of her Pokémon were knocked out by N earlier. Soon a red Pokémon leaped out of the bushes toward Nori. Before she could even scream the Throh was basted against a tree by an invisible force. Nori looked around until she saw Hiroki and Mu. The boy yawned.
“What did I say about staying up to la…” Suddenly Nori hugged Hiroki. He arched an eyebrow and sighed. “Let go of me this is embarrassing.” Nori right away pulled away, nervous at her sudden action. “Let’s get back and get you some rest. I think you look tired from the all the walking.” Hiroki turned around to walk and Nori followed.
At the Pokémon center, Nori rested peacefully in her room. Hiroki closed the door. Meili started to walk over to Hiroki. The Munna yawned and a little dream smoke came out. Hiroki supported his back against the wall and looked at the dream smoke. There was a faint image of N.
“Something wrong?”
“We were attacked by a trainer named N back at Accumula Town. I think Nori was attacked by this person. This guy has an intimidating presence in her dream.” Hiroki continued to look at the puff of smoke that gave N’s faint image till the smoke faded away. Hiroki can’t help but to look a little angry.
“Calm down Hiroki, at least nothing bad happened to Nori and we can all sleep well to that.” Meili pat the Munna on Hiroki’s head since she can’t physically pat Hiroki’s head with the pink tapir in the way. “Just sleep tight alright?” She started to go off to her own room that she rented. Hiroki simply stared forward.
“Yeah…sure.”

Monochrome Smiles Chapter 4
Nori, Hiroki, and Meili woke up in the late morning. Since it was so late they decided to have brunch at the local café, Café Warehouse. The three drank some coffee. Hiroki fed some toast to Mu. Meili simply watched Hiroki and Nori. Nori looked like she was still shook up from last night, slowly eating and drinking in comparison to Meili and Hiroki.
“W-well, I better head to the gym.” Nori stood up and right away took off, without even waiting on Hiroki and Meili. Hiroki and Meili stared and Mu yawned, a tiny puff of dream smoke leaked out as he did.
“You’re not going to follow?”
“She’ll be fine.” Hiroki looked down on the toast he was eating. “Of course, I know that she is still shaken up over yesterday. She just has to get over her own obstacles and continue on forward.” Meili looked over at Hiroki and then stood up and followed Nori. “I’m paying for all of this, aren’t I?”
Nori entered through the museum. As she did she passed by a large skeleton. Meili looked it, according to the description it is the skeleton of a very rare pokemon. Meili can’t help but to smile. Nori titled her head in confusion as to why Meili gazed at the skeleton with such nostalgia.
“Dragonite, this is the skeleton of a Pokémon found in the region Zephyr came from. I saw one once but that is my own story for another day.” Meili guided Nori over to a door past a large stair case. The door was labeled the gym. Nori took a deep breathe and opened the door.
Nori found herself in a library of sorts. She looked around in confusion. There was no gym leader in sight. She started to look around. Nori read enough books to tell this type of thing must have some secret switch in one of the books or something. She dug around the library for a few moments.
Meili waited on some benches that were situated outside the door. She looked at the door that lead to the gym and smiled, as if she was experiencing something nostalgic. It was then Hiroki walked up the stairs. He stared at the door then back at Meili. He sat on the bench across.
“So Nori began the match?” Hiroki asked.
“Not quite, give her awhile, it’s a puzzle.” Hiroki sighed at Meili’s statement and laid back. “Just have faith in her I’m sure she’ll…” The two soon heard the collapsing of book as well as yelp. “…figure it out somehow?” Hiroki looked over at the door with a great degree of worry. "Weren't you the one who said she'd be fine and she has to overcome this herself?"
“We just gotta hope I guess.” Hiroki didn't bother to answer.
“So why are you here anyways?” Hiroki then pointed to his Munna which started to weave dream smoke, a faint image of N within the cloud.
“He was here at some point.” Hiroki stated simply. “I still owe him a little rematch so to speak.”
Nori emerged from the pile of books that nearly buried her. She looked around worried for a moment. She started to pick up the books in panic, trying to remember what order they were in before she knocked them but then panicked again trying to look for a specific book, only to find herself buried again.
“Oh…I lost what page I was reading...let's see, there's Basic Evolution...Unique Moves…I don’t think the gymleader will like this at all.” Nori started to pick up books again till she noticed something peculiar about the shelf. She got a small step ladder and looked to see a button in the shelf. She pushed it and Nori flinched, fell off the step ladder and into the pile of books as the shelf began to move. “…oh that’s where she was.” Underneath the shelf was a stair case that led to the basement and most likely the gym leader.
Nori went down the stairs to see a research room, desks piled with papers, numerous display cases and shelves of books. Nori looked left and right and gasped in surprise as she saw the woman behind the desk. It was the woman from yesterday that found her.
“Oh, young lady, I see that you are feeling better.”
“Y-you’re the gym leader?” The dark sinned woman smiled and nodded. She stood up and walked over to Nori. She then realized she didn’t get to thank her properly since last night. She bowed politely. “T-thank you! For last night!!” Nori still sounded like a nervous wreck.
“Why are you so nervous? Just because I’m the gym leader doesn't mean you can’t loosen up right?” Nori looked up at the woman and then nervously nodded. She responded back with a smile. “I am the Nacrene City gym leader, Lenora! I accept your challenge. I take it you already know the rule? Knock out one of my Pokémon before the match is over and you win.” Nori and Lenora both took out a pokeball and threw their first Pokémon out. Nori sent out Pour while Lenora sent out the Herdier from yesterday.
“Pour, Scald!” The blue monkey unleashed a stream of hot water. The dog’s eyes shot wide open upon being blasted by the stream of hot water. The Herdier then leaped out of the rushing stream and shook his body to let all the water out. The dog was not pleased.
“Herdier use Thunder Fang!” The dog made a mad dash toward the blue monkey and was then bitten, suddenly a large surge of electricity rushed through the monkey. Nori was saddened. Come to think of it, Pour just seemed to have darn bad luck in these gym matches or battles in general.
“Pour, return!!” Nori called back her Pokémon but oddly enough so did Lenora. Then again Herdier took a severe direct hit from the water attack from earlier. Nori began to think for a moment and then… “Go Iggy!” Nori sent out the little red pig as Lenora then called upon her own Pokémon.
“Watchog!” A tall, weird, rat like creature with wide eyes was sent out of the pokeball and stared at the much shorter pig with great attention.
“Iggy, Flame Charge!”
“Detect!” Iggy cloaked himself in a rush of flame and charged but the Watchog simply slid out of the way of the attack. “Now use Crunch!” Watchog bite down on Iggy and then slammed the poor pig into the ground. Nori flinched at the sight of this but then took a deep breathe.
“Come on; remember what you read in those piles of books.” Nori said to herself. “Iggy! Use Heat Crash!!” Similar with Flame Charge, Iggy began to cloak his body in flames however as it made near contact with Watchog, a large explosion occurred. Lenora and Nori watched as the smoke clear.
“You’re good but…another Crunch!” Watchog bit on to Iggy again, the pig’s eyes widened in pain. Nori started to clap her hands and praying. She closed her eyes. “Sorry but praying for a miracle won’t help you.” Nori opened her eyes slowly and then she saw something strange. The Watchog suddenly let go of the pig as the pig started growing and twitching. “W-wait…this is…” Nori remembered last night when the Timburr started to evolve.
“You got wonderful timing.” Lenora said with a smile. Soon the Tepig started to grow and then flexed his new muscles as the pig finally stood on two feet, now taller and more muscular, a Pignite. “Impressive.” Nori smiled.
“Iggy! Arm Thrust!!” The pig, despite having the build of a young sumo wrestler in training, quickly rushed in front of the Watchog and began to slam him with his arms a numerous number of times. The final one making quick work of the Watchog. “The moment Tepig evolves into a Pignite, they immediately test out their new arm muscles, thus the reason why the moment it evolves they learn Arm Thrust.” Nori actually smiled a bit that her little bit of research paid off. Lenora laughed and then went over to Nori.
“I believe your efforts deserve this.” Lenora presented Nori with a purple rectangular badge with a golden frame. Nori smiled as she held the badge. It was a bit of a confidence booster for her. Especially from what happened to her last night. “Come on now, let’s get you outside.”
Hiroki and Mu have their eyes closed as Meili listened to the noises being caused below by the ensuing battle that started not long ago. She yawned. She was getting kind of tired of waiting as well. A man that wore glasses, well combed black hair, and dressed in a business suit came up to her.
“Takes a while for a battle to finish doesn’t it?” the man stated. Meili nodded. “How rude of me, I’m a tour guide of the museum and also the husband of the gym leader, Hawes, it’s a pleasure.” Meili smiled and shook hands with the man. “You know I heard in another country, there was a Pokémon battle that lasted eight hours. Isn’t that incredible.” Meili laughed. She was no participant but now the idea of an eight hour battle just made her more tired. Hiroki opened his eyes. The noises stopped. “I guess they’re done.” As if on time though, they heard a massive amount of foot step, Hiroki shot up from this and everyone else looked over at the entrance.
“What in the world…?!” Lenora and Nori opened the door just in time to see the entrance of the museum making way for a small group of Team Plasma members. Right away, Meili and Hiroki drew their pokeballs.
“We of Team Plasma shall now take this dragon skull in the name of Pokemon liberation!!”
“Oh yeah, cause blant robbery of a random museum that just happens to be owned by a gym leader is DEFINETLY making the way for Pokémon liberation. These dipshits never learn do they?” Hiroki began to charge, Meili followed.
“PLASMA!!” They all cried out their lame battle cry and then suddenly they all took out smoke bombs and set them off. By the time the smoke cleared, the skull of the Dragonite skeleton was gone.
“You got to be…” Hiroki and Meili ran off. Lenora, Nori, and Hawes quickly followed. As they dashed outside they were then greeted by N. The group stopped dead. N was accompanied by the Gurrdurr he had with him last night but the muscular Pokémon was not alone. He was accompanied by a Tympole and a Pidove. “Well just more crap keeps piling up today.”
“I’m afraid I can’t allow you to pass.” Hiroki then quickly took out a pokeball.
“Everyone else, go after Team Plasma. I’ll handle him alone. Lenora and Nori can’t possibly handle themselves too well due to their Pokémon being weakened from that gymbattle.” Hiroki then glared at N. “Besides, I have a score to settle, you two go.” Nori was hesitant as the others dashed off. “Don’t worry; I won’t use Mu if things get bad now go!” Nori didn’t move for a moment but after a while dashed after the group. Hiroki looked over at N’s current Pokémon. He then pushed the switch on his pokeball. “Now that everyone else is gone, I can show you this guy with no trouble. To be honest, I wanted to use another Pokémon against you but I want to catch up with them and not have to deal with you.” Hiroki released the pokeball. Silk threads began to surrounded N's party.
Meili, Nori, and Lenora ran into the forest. Numerous Team Plasma members started to gather, obviously a few running ahead to guard the skull. They all sent out a variety of Pokémon, meaning a bunch of Patrats, Purrlions, Timburrs, and brown crocodile like Pokémon known as Sandiles. Meili glared and then threw pokeball in the air. The poke ball opened to reveal a mostly black colored shallow tailed butterfly with beautifully designed wings, most notably the small red circles that signified the female gender of its species.
“Shoulie! Use Silver Wind!!” The butterfly flapped her wings and started to sweep away the numerous Pokémon and Team Plasma members, a pathway for Nori and Lenora was created by the storm for them to dash through. “You guys are nothing compared to me! Whirlwind!!” Shoulie flapped her wings again, this time creating a storm that blew the pokemon and the Team Plasma into a disorganized mess around the area around Meili.
Nori and Lenora dashed deeper into the forest. Nori sent out Petal, the only one that didn’t participate in the gym battle before and thus was at full health. Lenora sent out a Herdier but it was worn out. They battled through a few Team Plasma members.
“Ugh, we’ll never make it at this rate.” Lenora hissed. “I just hope that member doesn’t get too deep into the woods.”
Meanwhile the Team Plasma member carrying the skull decided to try and catch his breath from all the immense running. He looked around. He was in an isolated tree filed area; it would be hard to find him.
“Phew, it looks like they won’t find me any time soon. Now I just gotta get this skull delivered and its mission accomplished!” The Team Plasma member was proud of himself, but only for a brief moment he heard movement among the trees. He started to shiver in complete terror, as he gazed upon something that is shaped similar to an antelope but the head has horns that end with dull points, its body was mostly green and white but the shade of the trees made it difficult to make a clear form from the creature. “O-oh just a Pokémon…” Suddenly the Pokémon began to leap out and attempt to slash the Team Plasma with one of its horns. The Team Plasma member shrieked like a little child and closed his eyes, only to hear the horn clashed against something. He opened his eyes to see a green bipedal Pokemon, a Gallade with his elbow blades drawn out, apparently repelled the attack from the forest Pokémon. Eyes stared at the Gallade before the Pokémon ran off. “Man, I gotta thank you some time Ga…ACK!” The Team Plasma member looked down to see the skull gone.
“You know if you’re that determined to steal something, you’d have a better grip on it instead of wetting yourself.” The Team Plasma member turned to a boy with black hair, interestingly enough, there is two hair ‘antennae’ sticking out of his head. He wore a slightly big collared dark purple jacket and long black pants with silver shoes. The Team Plasma right away drew a pokeball but then noticed the Gallade’s elbow blade close to his side. “Do you really want to piss off the guy who just saved your life? Don’t worry, if you’re nice I’ll tell him to let you go…if he feels like it.”
Nori and Lenora eventually run into the black haired boy. He gave the skull gently to Lenora. The two of them were confused but then looked behind him to see a knocked out Team Plasma member.
“I believe this is suppose to be in the museum.”
“Kiro?!” Meili ran to catch up with the group. Kiro looked wide eyed as he saw Meili. “I didn’t know you’re in the Unova region! Of if you’re here, that means Izu is too.”
“Dammit, and here I was hoping to train here in peace.” Meili and Kiro clearly know each other. Lenora and Nori looked at each other confused and then Nori had a question in her head. Hiroki walked up to the group.
“Oh Hiroki you’re here.” Nori stated. “What happened with N?”
“Got away. Doesn’t matter at the mo…” Hiroki noticed Meili and Kiro talking with each other. “Let me guess, friend of Zephyr that came to help us?” Nori nodded.
“Anyways, I gotta get back to Izu, my Poliwrath is standing guard and hopefully he isn’t attacking tourists thinking their spies.” Kiro started to walk off. Meili watched Kiro leave with a slight smile she then ran up to Kiro. “Before you ask, no I haven’t seen Zephyr nor do I want to at the moment.” Kiro went back on the path to Nacrene city. Lenora then smiled.
“We better put this back.” Lenora stated
Back at the Pokémon Center, Hiroki, Nori, and Meili got their Pokémon healed. Hiroki took out the map again. He stared at it for a moment. Nori actually looked a little sad in a corner. Meili arched an eyebrow as she looked at the two.
“Well…we know where we’re going next. It’s Castelia City. However…” Hiroki glanced back at the map and then at Nori. “We might want to skip that for last. Find a way around the city.” Meili can’t help but to be even more confused. “It’s a personal thing. We might just pass through the city. However, it is all up to Nori, I’m just accompanying her.” Nori slowly got up from her corner.
“I-I’ll battle…it would be a big waste of time if we skipped that city only to go all the way back.” Nori was visually nervous as she went up over to the rooms in the Center. Hiroki and Meili look visually concerned.
“She was born in that city. Most people would have nostalgia about their birthplace but…not Nori. She has a unique relationship with her home town so to speak.” Hiroki himself went off to a room to sleep for tonight. Meili looked at them and then followed them to the rooms to rest for tonight.
Kiro went up to a girl sitting at a table and chair outside Café Warehouse. The girl had short black hair that is slightly wavy at the end and is wearing a simple long light blue shirt with jeans.
“New hair style?”
“Yup, nice to know you pay attention Kiro.” Kiro sighed and then sat across from her. “So how did training go?” Kiro yawned as Izu asked the question.
“It went normally. I ran into Meili again. Seems like she’s got a few new friends here along the way too. At least he wasn't there.” Kiro then took out his pokeball and sent out his Gallade though. Izu was confused why he did such a thing. “Something is wrong though.” Kiro then lifted one of Gallade’s arms, his left and the one used to block the attack from the forest Pokémon. Izu gasped as she noticed the arm look severely bruised and damaged. “Remember one of the rumors we heard about Unova on the ship to here?”
“Well we heard a lot of stories to be honest, which one are you referring to?”
“The Unova region was created through a grand war caused by two powerful dragon Pokémon and their trainers. However I’m not talking about those dragons. You see during the war, there was a great fire engulfing a grand forest. Right when it looked like the Pokémon are doomed to be consumed by the great flames, three Pokémon appeared to save them.” Kiro then returned Gallade and Poliwrath back into their pokeballs. “Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. Three of these Pokémon arrived to save the Pokémon and escape their fire.” Kiro placed the pokeballs away. “I think I encountered one of them. You see, legend states that their signature technique was that of their horns being used a unique way. A powerful Sacred Sword so to speak. However, that weapon was used against humanity in the story seeing as how the trio fought against them and hated them.” Kiro however began to chuckle and smile. Izu was rather confused. After all, if what Kiro said was true, then that means those Pokémon were a threat. “I’m actually curious if I could replicate it. According to legend they are part fighting.” Izu sighed.
“Still battle crazy as ever. I guess Zephyr beat you that badly huh.” Izu said to herself. “Welp let’s get going the boat parties should start soon and I also want to go on that tour.” Kiro nodded.

Monochrome Smiles Chapter 5
The group awoke the next morning and left the city. Nori, Meili, and Hiroki all traveled through the path in Pinwheel forest that leads to a station. They looked out from it to see a very large and long bridge. Meili’s jaw dropped in amazement.
“Wow that bridge is going to take a while to cross.”
“That’s Skyarrow Bridge, the largest bridge in the Unova region.” Hiroki and Nori walked ahead. The two don’t appear too enthusiastic about crossing it that much was made apparent by Meili. “Let’s go, it’s a long walk by foot.”
And Hiroki did not exaggerate. It took them what felt like two to four hours to cross that bridge. At the bridge on the other side, the group collapsed on to chairs. They were provided water by the security guards simply out of pity of how exhausted they looked. Meili chugged down a water bottle. Hiroki simply took a sip of his water and then splashed the rest of the bottle's contents on Mu. Nori was the only one who took her time.
“U-um…can I make a suggestion?” Nori said. Hiroki and Meili turned to Nori. “C-can we got our separate ways and just hang around the city today? We must be severely tired from walking on that bridge. I say we just take a break around Castelia City and just hang around. It’s already afternoon so let’s meet up at the Pokemon center at about 9 PM.” Nori right away got up. “A-any objections?”
“None.” Hiroki stated. Meili looked over at Hiroki in a little confusion. From Meili's view, Hiroki would stay with Nori, it was unusual that he would just let her go off her own for a while. Then again he didn’t really do much to support her during her gym battles aside from sitting outside. Maybe Hiroki is convinced that she can handle herself? Meili looked back at Nori and shook her head, to signal no objection. Nori then went out of the station first. Hiroki got up. “If you’re going to look for me, I’ll be at Café Sonata. It’s Castelia’s most famous café so you should be able to get directions if you ask.” Hiroki left soon after but Meili stood up.
“Hiroki, wait.” Meili had a serious expression on her face. “What significance does Castelia have to you and Nori?” Hiroki then glared over at Meili.
“Let me be honest with you, I only allowed you to tag along because your Pokemon is much stronger than ether Nori or mine. You're a free body guard as far as I'm concerned. Don’t even think for a second that you hanging around with us mean we have to spill our personal matters over to you.” Meili stared at Hiroki as he walked back out the door. Meili stared and then sighed.
“So…why can’t I try to help?” Meili then took out Banafushigi’s pokeball. The Venasaur looked up from inside the pokeball at Meili. “Don’t pay too much mind to it, let’s just look around. Castelia is a big city so chances are someone has seen Zephyr.” Meili went out the station door into Castelia city. She took out Shoulie’s pokeball and another Pokeball. She opened them both, the second unleashing a purple butterfly with white wings. “Shoulie, Bada, if you find Zephyr, tell me.” The butterflies nodded and then flew off into the skies of the city. Meili started to walk around on her own
The city was rather huge, buildings towered over the vast and busy populace. Meili had trouble getting around just because there were so many people. Thankfully the butterflies were easy to distinguish from the numerous Pidoves, not to mention the two butterflies were Pokemon not even off this region so it was even easier to keep track of them.
“Seesh, why is the populace so huge?” Meili sat on the fountain. She then sighed. “Zephyr, I just hoped you didn’t get yourself tied into this mess.” She thought for a moment. “Nevermind, he isn’t the type to ignore the distress of others.” Meili looked over to see a man with wavy brown hair and blue eyes. His attire was a red scarf, green long sleeves, and strangely enough orange pants. He appeared to sketching the fountain. She looked over at him. “Oh sorry. I must be getting in the way of your ske…” An idea just then struck Meili. “Oh crap!!” The man who was sketching in his small notebook arched an eyebrow at Meili.
“Why didn’t I just go up and ask the gym leaders if they’ve seen Zephyr?! Why did I not think of this in the first place?!?! It would’ve made my entire life all the more easier!!!” Meili then bowed politely. “Oh sorry for screaming, but I really gotta get going, I need to find the gym leader of this place!” Meili dashed off in a random direction. The boy simply staring at the space she was sitting at.
“B-but…I am the gymleader…” the artist shrugged and went back to continue his sketch.
Hiroki sat alone in the café; he ordered a simple coffee for himself and his Munna nothing more. He sipped his coffee and then laid back as he watched the occasional coughed up dream smoke from his Munna. Hiroki flicked his hands at the smoke to disperse the images away. He turned to see the numerous other residents. Many talking with others or just taking care of their Pokemon. Hiroki sipped some coffee and decided to reminisce.
A younger Hiroki walked around the city, he carried in his arms Mu. The Munna yawned. Hiroki had a completely blank expression on his face. He just sat at a harbor bench, completely alone. Hiroki mindlessly petted the pink tapier pokemon.
“Looks like we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives huh?” Hiroki then looked Mu in the eyes. “At least it will be better than where you use to live.” Hiroki looked up at the dream smoke that Mu coughed up. He looked in the smoke to see a faint image. He couldn’t see it clearly but it was a crying girl. Her hair color was strangely filtered out, as if seen through a fog of some sorts. Hiroki sighed and waved his hand to disperse the smoke…only to see someone across from him, someone wore a dark green coat with the hood that covered the head. Hiroki could hear crying.
Hiroki snapped out of it when you noticed someone sat across from him. Hiroki had an agitated look. Mu simply had no reaction and enjoyed his coffee. Across from him, was none other than N.
“Sore over your loss back at Nacrene?” N stared at him for a moment. “Got questions? I’m not going to bother answering them. Come to think of it, you were there when Team Plasma stole that skull.” N arched an eyebrow.
“They were stealing? I thought they were just there to make a speech.” Hiroki arched an eyebrow as well.
“You clearly support them. Then again admiration leads to obliviousness. I don’t have time for your shit today N, leave me alone. In fact you chose a really shitty time to pay me a visit.” Hiroki got up from the chair. N still appeared to be confused. He got up to ask a question but then something broke a window. Hiroki hissed as he noticed it was a smoke bomb.
Soon the café was filled with smoke and chaos. Numerous sounds of panic and random table being tossed over as well as the shattering of cups echoed through the area. Right away one can hear a pokeball being opened as well as a call.
“Pidove, blow the smoke away.” Soon the bird began to blow the smoke away. The café was in a huge mess. N looked around and called back his Pidove. He noticed most of the Pokemon missing and people panicking. N looked around and then heard someone collapsed on the ground. He turned to see Hiroki, on the ground, as he twitched constantly. N noticed something else that was different. Mu was gone. A pokeball dropped out of Hiroki's belt. N attempted to hold the boy to keep him still but his body continued to scramble.
Nori walked around the great city. She went over to a small art museum. Castelia City was not only famous for its large port and business; it was also famous for its art. She stared at some of the paintings for a long while. Nori would sometimes visit the Stuido Castelia and stare for hours. In fact, Nori still remembered her favorite paintings. A pair of twin paintings actually, done by an artist form about a hundred years ago according to Unova’s history, the twin painting “Black Lighting Bolt” and “White Fire.” The black lighting against the white back round took in the shape of something but Nori could never tell what it was, the same with the white flames against the black background. As a child, she would make guesses as to what was those mysterious figures are that the artist try to represent. However, those drawings now embarrassed Nori now. It was silly to guess at abstract art.
“Hmm…they’re still there after all this time.” Nori stared at the paintings for a moment. She wanted to touch them, but that wasn't exactly allowed. She turned to notice…a particular pair. Two women, one of them having long elegant pink hair and the other has golden well braided hair. They were both wearing white sundresses. Nori can’t help but to notice the beauty of the two. Out of curiosity, she walked over to the two…only for them to notice them gaze at a strange painting. It appeared to be random shades and blotches of white trying to mix with random blotches and shades of black. The painting name is what caught Nori’s eyes.
“Truth…and ideals?” Nori read the title out loud, the two women turned to Nori and right away Nori began to shiver a little. “S-sorry, I was just reading outloud to myself don’t mind m…” Suddenly the pink haired woman gently touched Nori’s hand. She had a soft smile across her face.
“It is alright child, please gaze at this painting with us, it is our favorite after all.” Nori calmed down a lot after the pink haired woman’s words. She looked at the painting. In its own way it was beautiful. She could see why they liked it. It was technically splotches of color but in its own way it symbolizes the conflict, if ideals are right or truth is right. The painting caused Nori to be lost in thoughts for a moment.
A young Nori went down the elevator. She was followed by another girl, one with a red jacket following her. The other girl had her hood down. She had dark brown hair all tied back with a pony tail and dark brown eyes to match them. She was chasing after Nori.
“Nori, wait! Listen!!”
“No! Just stay away from me!!” Nori ran and ran as far as she could, eventually she out ran the girl that followed her. She didn't even know where exactly she was going, she didn't care, anywhere was better than here for her. She collapsed on a bench as she breathed heavily.
Nori placed her hands over her face. She began to cry. She wanted to hide it, with her hands and her hood. She then placed her knees to her face, curled up into a ball of isolation. She heard foot steps. As she did, she tensed up and then looked up. She saw a boy with a munna. The boy then sat down next to her.
“It’s terrible to sad, but it is absolutely miserable to be alone and sad. This Munna and I are sad too.” Nori was speechless, not to mention confused. “I don’t exactly like people right now, but…being sad hurts no matter who it is and we’re suppose to 'toughen up'.” Hiroki then smiled sadly as he pet the Munna. “I’m Hiorki. This Munna, my partner, his name is Mu.”
“…I-I’m Nori.”
Nori snapped out of her own little flash back as the pink haired girl shook her a little. It was clear that Nori dazed off. Both women look at Nori with a huge amount of concern expressed in their faces. She looked at the two of them and then shook her head to get herself back into reality for a moment.
“Something appeared to be troubling you.” Said the blond haired woman, she went up to look at Nori face to face but Nori instantly went back away from so to avoid the blond haired woman's gaze. “Don’t be afraid…we won’t hurt you” The woman then felt Nori’s face without having to lift it. Nori shivered uncontrollably. “Fear not, we do no’t mind what you look like in any form.” The two women gave Nori reassuring smiles. The pink haired one looked over at a clock.
“It appears he is late.” Nori turned over to the pink haired one in confusion. “I apologize for not explaining, we are in this studio to wait for someone.” Nori wanted to ask but they soon answered it for her. “Do you by any chance know anyone by the name of N?”
Meili ran across the city street. Soon she noticed a café in the ally way that appeared complete destroyed and ran sacked. She gasped as soon she saw something. She saw N observing a constantly twitching Hiroki. N was about to reach for the pokeball however Shoulie was dropped right from the sky in front of N. Meili walked up to N.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” N pointed to Hiroki whom was twitching. Meili right away tried to get a hold of Hiroki. “Hiroki?! Hiroki?!” Meili started to shake Hiroki but it only made his twitch worse. “Dammit…” Shoulie looked inside the Pokeball to see a yellow spider like Pokemon. The spider crawled around inside to try to look for a way out but can’t. Shoulie, with her long thread like mouth, popped open the pokeball. The Galvantula right away ran toward Hiroki and then started to send electricity through Hiroki’s body. He let out a huge gasp for air but right when he got a hold of himself he hissed and got up quickly, completely ignored N and Meili at that moment.
“Team Plasma can go **** itself right now…” Hiroki ran out, this time the Munna that rode on his head is replaced by the Galvantula. “Denny, let’s go, we can’t let them have Mu.” Hiroki ran off, N and Meili still confused about what exactly just happened.
“N?!?!” Nori nearly had her back against the wall in complete terror. These two nice and seemingly gentle women know N?! Nori was now completely terrified beyond belief. The two women are in confusion. “Y-yes…I know him but why do you two know him?”
“We’ve been taking care of N since he is a child so to speak.” The blond haired woman said. “N was raised for a purpose you see, and our job is to make sure that is to happen.” Nori titled her head and then remembered what N said about being a hero and taming a legendary pokemon.
“W-wait…I’d like to ask a question, if you don’t mind.” The two women patiently waited. “That legend, it says the Unova region was once lead by two heroes and two powerful dragon Pokemon. Does N really plan on becoming one of those heroes? Is it really possible?”
“N was raised to be one.” The pink haired one simply said. “That is all.” The three then heard a bit of commotion going on outside, numerous police are hastily ran around. Nori right away got out.
“Come on please be ok.” Nori said to herself however she then bumped into someone. She luckily managed to cling to her coat hood so as it didn’t fall off. She hastily got up. “S-sorry! I’m in a hu…” Nori stopped as she realized whom she bumped into. A girl with dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail, wore mainly a red coat similar to Nori’s.
Hiroki ran around the city, his electric spider also looked around. As they followed, N then looked over at Meili. She looked back. To be honest, Meili found it a little odd that N has no sense of personal space what so ever but he doesn't seem…too bad.
“You know Hiroki and Nori?”
“Yeah, I do.” Meili then remembered what Hiroki said. “Despite his protests, I am trying to help him. Any idea what caused Hiroki to twitch like that?” N looked down…confused as well. Meili looked back at Hiroki, frantically searching the city. He however stopped.
“Caught one.” Hiroki grabbed what appeared to be the air and pulled, suddenly a Team Plasma was dragged by a mysterious force. Meili was about to go but N touched her shoulder and then lightly tugged at something. On closer observation it was a thin wire. “Now I’m going to cut straight to the point…have you seen a Munna? I suggest you answer quickly before I decide to strangle you." Suddenly areas of the Team Plasma member began to tighten, as it was clear that the Team Plasma member was being strangled. Meili suddenly snapped her fingers…
“Silver wind.” Right away, Bada and Shoulie appeared and started to blow a silver powdered gust that broke apart the numerous threads. Hiroki had no reaction; instead he just stared at the Team Plasma member that is now ran off in complete panic and terror. Hiroki slowly turned to Meili.
“Care to explain? I have little time for hypocrisy, if I remember correctly you traumatized your fair share of Team Plasma members.” Meili then slapped Hiroki across the face with a paper fan that seemingly came out of nowhere; N can’t help but to wince in sympathy pain.
“Shut up. I do so out of disciplined, but that Team Plasma member was just a random passer by. What makes you so sure that every single Team Plasma member had something to do with the café?”
“I think you’re forgetting the incident where they were KICKING a munna, I don’t think I should be letting off the hook right now.”
“…kicking a Munna?” N’s confused statement caused Meili and Hiroki to look at him. N had a confused look and then looked over at the two. “Team Plasma has an office building in this city. I’ll take you two there. I have questions of my own as well.” Hiroki and Meili looked at each other. Seeing as how there was no other method of tracking Team Plasma members, Hiroki has no choice.
“Fine. Show us the way.” Meili then looked over at Bada and Shoulie.
“Ok you two, this time I want you to look for Nori.” The butterflies nodded and flew off into the skies of the grand city.
The three arrived in front of an office building. Hiroki stared at the entrance with three Team Plasma members guarding the door. One of them went up to Hiroki and appeared to notice N.
“Oh N, you’re here today, please come on i…” Right away the three guards were tied on to the lamp posts by the spider threads. Meili sighed in annoyance, seeing as how she can do little about Hiroki’s aggressive action.
“Must you be so aggressive Hiroki?” N asked.
“They have my best friend in that building, how’d you feel?”
“Understandable, but these are my allies…” The three entered the building. The three saw Ghetsis. He appeared to be speaking to two other old men, one wearing brown robes and the other wearing violet. Ghetsis turned to the group, the other two adjusting their hats upon seeing the group. Hiroki’s eyes turned to a group carry a see through container of some sort that contained Mu.
“Hiroki! Wa…!!” Right away the Team Plasma members were tangled by webbing, causing Mu’s cage to drop and threads surrounded the entire room. No one could move, not without getting caught. Hiroki glared at the three old men.
“W-what is this?! Who is this N?!” N looked at the wire and then sent out Pidove which then used air cutter to cut some of the threads. Hiroki picked up the container with Mu. N walked up to the three men.
“I do not remember ever approving this.” N said to the men. They stared but Ghetsis made a smile.
“Fear not, N, I came to this building to address the issue. There is little to worry about.”
“What a load of crap.” Hiroki opened the cage containing Mu. The Munna then retook his place upon Hiroki’s head. Denny still stayed out to guard her trainer. “Considering what a majority of your members done so far, I highly doubt you guys have the best of intentions.”
“How dare you…!” One of the Team Plasma members then tripped. Hiroki presented the Team Plasma member with one of the threads that Denny made.
“I hope you realize that I could’ve strangled you and your buddies earlier if I saw wanted to.” Meili then dragged Hiroki by the shoulder and glared at him.
“You got what you wanted. Leave them be.” Meili didn’t lessen her grip on Hiroki’s shoulder. The two then looked over at N’s conversation with the three men.
“Shouldn’t you be meeting those two by now?” N stared at Ghetsis and then nodded and went past Hiroki and Meili, as if they weren't there. “I apologize, you see we came across this Munna and decided to assist it. However, it was attacking our Team Plasma members so we had to contain it for a while.”
“What a load.” Hiroki hissed. Meili then pushed him out the entrance she glared at him. Hiroki can’t help but to pay attention more, she really did look like she was going to punch Hiroki in the stomach. Meili went outside and looked at the sky for a few seconds. She noticed Bada flying toward Meili. The Butterfree began to point in a direction with one of her legs.
“Hiroki, follow my Butterfree, it might have found Nori. You have no place here right now.” Hiroki twitched but none the less complied. Meili turned back towards Ghetsis. “So…here I was thinking Team Plasma’s guiding principle was to ‘liberate Pokemon’ but I think the way I see things it’s now ‘take what you want’.” Meili glared over at them.
“You dare disrespect Mr. Ghetsis?!”
“I’m allowed to have my own opinion. It seems to be something you people don’t seem to understand.” The Team Plasma members readied their pokeballs, Meili did as well however Ghetsis raised his hand. “Here is what I want. I want all of you to give back the Pokemon ‘you just happen to come across’ otherwise this entire office building will be covered in vines if I so choose.” Meili said presenting Banafushigi’s pokeball. “By the way, I want this done under my supervision.” She then walked up to Ghetsis, a hostile glare on her face. “So why do you even take Pokemon form others? You have seen the bond between Hiroki and that Munna. Hiroki was even willing to harm your members for the safety of his Pokemon. You tell me what exactly you are liberating Pokemon from?” Ghetsis chuckled.
“The friendship between Pokemon and people can be very touching. But, in order to liberate pokemon from foolish people, we will revive the legend of Unova—and win the mind and hearts of everyone! That is what Team Plasma desires.” Meili arched an eyebrow at Ghetsis. “I see you, young lady, are not familiar with the founding of the Unova region.”
“Enlighten me.”
“You see, two powerful dragon Pokemon appeared before two heroes. One white one and one black one.” Ghetsis began to walk side by side like he does in all his speeches, Meili watching his every movement. “These two dragon Pokemon spread its knowledge and bared its fangs at those who stood against the two. Together, these heroes and pokemon brought unity within the region after a long time of struggle. We shall bring back the hero and the dragon Pokemon once again and win the hearts of everyone thus creating the world that I, no-Team Plasma desires!!” Meili mockingly clapped at the little history lesson.
“Nice, nice…you just admitted you want to create a world of fear underneath the power of this legendary dragon Pokemon nice job.” Meili was agitating the Team Plasma members and the two old men however Ghetsis seemed to remain calm. “Thank you for the explanations, but right now I could care less that you’re chasing after lessons, just bring me to the pokemon ‘you just happen to come across'”
“Very well, you are a strong willed young lady, not faltering in your goals. That is something to be admired.” Ghetsis started to walk past Meili, the two men following her. She rolled her eyes.
“Please, it’s insulting to accept compliments from you.” Meili then took out her paper fans and looked at the Team Plasma members. “Ok chop chop, you better find those pokemon and guide them back to their trainers.” The Team Plasma members hesitantly nodded before heading up the stairs of the building with Meili following them.
