The Showmon
So this piece was done as part of a test for a particular type of writing style, but I had fun with it so I hope you do too.
As I open my eyes my body aches all over, as if I have worked for hours.
I smell the sweat coming from my arms and I feel out of breath. I turn around to see the castle in the near distance, with stone walls and cracking bricks.
I continue to walk forwards, towards my destination.
A mon calls to me, waving his arms angrily, bow in hand; I am glad he is far away.
I slow myself into a walk as I approach the over-arching passage way, tempted to duck.
The spikes from the portcullis are sheer and fear inducing.
The path is gravelly, with fading colours of grey. I feel my shoes create a crunching noise with every step.
The splashing of the fountain in the centre of the square is too much to ignore; the Swanna on the top of the water shoots a bubble at my stoic, fiery body.
My legs decide to start to twitch and I change into a jogging pace. I am tall for an Incineroar, so I duck as I casually walk through the doors.
The halls are cream painted and I want to take a five minute break, sit down on the stone benches and enjoy looking out the sparkling clear stained glass windows.
Alas, it was time for a change of scenery.
I see the guards approaching to take me in.
I hear the footsteps getting louder and louder, something which I didn’t truly anticipate.
I slip into a neighbouring hall and start to walk where it seems clear of other Pokémon.
The wooden floorboards creak and I hold my breath; nothing happens as they make the irritating noise with each step I take.
The glimmering gold of the Gengar’s castle is enough to be sought after, particularly by someone as poor as me.
I calm myself, each deep breath in helps me steady my nerves.
I step over the window ledge and ease my foot back down on the other side.
The deed is done and I was successful.
One paw at a time I touch the safe, carefully accessing the door and taking the item inside before closing the door with the gold in hand.
